The Asian Business Case Competition has achieved the CarbonNeutral® event certification by working with The CarbonNeutral Company, a world-leading provider of carbon reduction solutions, to measure and reduce its CO2 emissions from heating, lighting, waste and travel from the four days of activities.
To achieve CarbonNeutral® status, Asian Business Case Competition is working with The CarbonNeutral Company, a world-leading provider of carbon reduction solutions. The Asian Business Case competition has reduced its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in accordance with The CarbonNeutral Protocol, the global standard for carbon neutral certification. The programme involved an independent assessment of the CO2 emissions produced from conducting activities for four days followed by an offset-inclusive emissions reduction programme. This means that for every one tonne of GHG emissions that the Asian Business Case Competition produces, it purchases a verified carbon offset which guarantees an equivalent amount of GHG emissions is reduced from the atmosphere through a renewable energy or clean technology project.
Aside from purchasing carbon credits to offset emissions, much effort has been taken to reduce the source of emissions. All disposable utensils used for meals throughout the competition will be biodegradable. Paper used during the course of the competition will be sent to an eco-friendly company for recycling.
